The Midland Hotel in Morecambe is one of those rare landmarks where history, art, and location meet — and from above, it tells a completely new story.
Using my drone, I had the chance to capture this Art Deco gem from multiple aerial compositions, revealing its full beauty in ways only the sky can.
🌀 The Curved Entrance – A Perfect Welcome
From the first shot, the graceful circular steps and terrace stand out — welcoming visitors with a soft spiral that echoes the waves behind it. From this low-altitude angle, you can see the design symmetry and the bustling promenade that wraps around it.
🌊 The Shoreline Embrace – Hotel Meets Bay
From the air, the Midland hugs the edge of the bay like it was sculpted to belong there. The building’s natural arc mirrors the sweeping coastline, giving it a calm but powerful presence.
🏙️ Full-Frontal Composition – Structure Meets City
This shot is all about balance — the hotel front and center, with Morecambe’s townscape, gardens, and traffic linesgiving it context. You feel the energy of the town behind it, but the hotel still commands the scene.
✨ Evening Reflection – Light, Glass, and Atmosphere
As the light softens, the hotel begins to glow. Reflections from the restaurant’s long glass walls pick up the sky’s pastel colours, while the rooftop’s edges shimmer with that coastal magic only found at dusk.
